FADP (Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection)

Also known as: revFADP, nFADP, Swiss Data Protection Act, DSG, revDSG

Definition

The Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) governs the processing of personal data by private persons and federal bodies in Switzerland. The revision that entered into force on 1 September 2023 introduced, among other things, expanded information duties, breach notification obligations, stricter requirements for data processing and data protection impact assessments, and higher penalties. The supervisory authority is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, locally EDÖB).
